Visual communication

Visual communication is the transmission of a message through an image, or rather, through a visual metaphor and a representation of reality. Everything we see is visual communication, because each image and photograph transfers information.

Visual communication can be divided into:

  • random visual communication: that is, the transmission of a random image which can be freely interpreted by the receiver;
  • intentional visual communication: that is, the voluntary transmission of information to achieve a certain goal. This type of information must be objective, in the sense that the recipient must receive the exact meaning intended by the issuer of the message itself.

Graphic Design forms part of this type of communication and is understood as being all the visual material, mainly paper or digital, that identifies the company or the product.
